New Pinilla Family Member

No, it's not that kind of new member! It's a new puppy dog! Well, he's a year and a half 'puppy'. He's a, wait for it, black cocker spaniel. Those of you who don't know, our black cocker Maggie died 2 years ago and it broke our hearts to pieces. Although when Maggie died I swore up and down I'd never ever get another dog after Pixie, I found myself lately really wanting a second dog. Since a second kid may never come to fruition, I began reeling in the idea of another furry kinda kid. During vacation bible school, a lady very subtly announced in the worker's dinner area that she had a black cocker spaniel "if anyone is interested" to give away. I guess they had enough animals and felt bad they couldn't give him the attention he DEMANDS. Without even thinking (this is strange for me!), I said "yes, yes....you're serious right?....yes!" So that night we scooped up a new member of our clan. His name was Danny, which coincidentally is the name of my boss, when they gave him to us and was Blacky when they got him from another family 2 months before. He wasn't responding to either, so we figured changing it wouldn't be too traumatic. His name is now officially Remmy. I adore the movie Ratatouille and Remmy is the main character whom I'm hopelessly in love with! He responds to it and wags his tail in agreement every time I say it. He's very inquisitive and doesn't sit still for very long. We've some work to do with him, but at the end of the day, he is lovely. He is very sweet and he makes our home complete (at this stage at least). I read that you can train young dogs to alert you that a child is having a seizure come on. I'll have to keep reading and see what we can do.

Pixie is at my in-laws in the valley. They are helping house-train her. I was unsuccessful for so long and my father-in-law is good with that sort of thing. She's been there for a few months and so hasn't met Remmy yet. I almost feel like I'm cheating on her having a new dog in the house she hasn't met. I'm sure they will get along great. They are both very loving dogs with a lot of energy.
WELCOME REMMY!
